| Moxie Spendlove Episode V: "Does Moxie Want to Date?" |
When we last saw Moxie, she was on her way to becoming a nun. Divinity, her ex-boyfriend, dropped by unexpectedly and a slumber party ensued. The next day Moxie awoke with a hangover and a big decision when Grack Blama called her and asked her on a date.
Moxie's all about options and it wouldn't be fair to deprive anyone of her fabulousness so she gives Grack a chance and goes on a date. But will the date be enough to keep her from dedicating her life to the Church? Maybe the date will lead to an even bigger calling... one that wears a mask perhaps? |

Kicky Fun Facts!
- The name "Grack Blama" was actually a result of Shelly mixing up the pronunciation of two words "Black Grandma". Jason liked the mispeak so much that he used it as a name. Another mispeak was Bombie Zabie (shoud have been Zombie Baby). That one didn't quite make it into the series as a character.
- When Moxie and Grack are eating ice cream, we didn't record any audio because of traffic noise. When it came time to do the voiceover, there is a part where Shelly (Moxie) gives the camera a dirty look and says something... we could never figure out what it was so we guessed that she was saying "Ice cream's cold". Either that or she was telling Andy how much she hated Jeremy and Jason at that moment. The line never reached the final edit.
- Paolo's Restaurant was where we filmed Grack and Moxie's first date. They were nice enough to give us food and wine, and Shelly kept wolfing her pasta down during filming and was half done by the time we were a few lines into the scene. We made her stop and Jeremy ate the rest after filming was complete.
- Originally the birthday cake scene was supposed to be filmed in early October, so Jeremy and Jason bought the cake the night before filming. Unfortunately due to a scheduling conflict, the scene was pushed to about a month and a half later... We kept the cake in the fridge and used it during filming. Those aren't chocolate chips on the side of the cake, it's mold. You'll notice that the characters never eat any of the cake.
- The black cocktail dress that Shelly wore in the date scene was purchased at a store for the purpose of filming. The dress was expensive so we decided to take it back after we finished filming. If you look closely you can see a large white tag taped to her backside. We had to film at weird angles to avoid getting it on film.
- Super Sexy Cop and The Hump came about because Episode IV was getting way too serious and Moxie is about quirky fun, not depressing murders and convents. So Jason, being the daring writer that he is, decided to go in the complete opposite direction and make Moxie and Herberta super heroes for one episode. Pure genius.
- The dream sequence was filmed near the end of editing because early screening feedback suggested that the birthday cake scene ended with Moxie and Grack getting it on. The scene should put to rest any doubts about Moxie's virtue.
- The footage of Grack in the dream sequence was originally filmed for a promo that never got made. Andy wasn't aware that it was used until the cast screening party where he (and everyone else) was surprised to see him dancing around like a goof in Moxie's dream.
- The original costume for Super Sexy Cop bordered on stripper wear. Jeremy's roommate Laura came to the rescue with a black dress that was much more appropriate, but still sexy enough to be Super Sexy Cop.
